200,000 SARA Rahmah Boxes For The Needy By Year End - Fuziah Salleh

PETALING JAYA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) aims to collect 200,000 SARA Rahmah boxes for the needy from Aug 31 till the end of the year.

Its deputy minister, Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the mission to collect the boxes was launched by Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN) throughout the country.

"This initiative showcases the MADANI government’s agenda where every Malaysian has a right to feel care, solidarity and support regardless of their background.

"The box does not only contain basic necessities but symbolically represents hope and care,” she told reporters after launching the programme at MYDIN Subang Jaya here today.

The efforts would be intensified by a series of tours to ministries, government agencies and private institutions from Sept 2 to encourage even more people to buy and donate the boxes.

“KPDN and MYDIN will also create the Rahmah Basket package customised according to target groups such as B40 families, the elderly and students to ensure better and more inclusive aid,” she said.

Meanwhile, MYDIN managing director Datuk Dr Ameer Ali Mydin said the public can come to any MYDIN branch throughout the country to purchase the boxes from Aug 31.

The launch of the programme is in line with the government’s efforts under 'SARA For All’ where customers from the T20 group who do not require the RM100 aid given via MyKad can channel the aid by purchasing the boxes.

The SARA Rahmah Box is offered at RM100 each, and contains products by local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), in line with the Buy Malaysian Products Campaign by KPDN.
