KUANTAN, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today visited the site of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) F/A-18D Hornet fighter jet incident at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (Kuantan Air Base).
According to a post on Kesultanan Pahang’s Facebook page, Al-Sultan Abdullah was accompanied by Air Force chief General Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris during the visit.
His Royal Highness later visited the two surviving crew members at the Malaysian Armed Forces Hospital at the air base.
“They are pilot Major Mohamad Azhar Alang Kamarudin, 34, and weapon systems officer Captain Mohamad Izzuddin Mohamad Salleh, 28,” the statement read.
The RMAF fighter jet was reported to have crashed on the runway of the air base at 9.05 pm yesterday.
