UiTM names Malaysia’s Accountant General As Adjunct Professor

SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s Accountant General Datuk Nor Yati Ahmad has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), in recognition of her contributions to public sector accounting and the country’s financial reform.

UiTM, in a statement, said the appointment marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (JANM) and the public university in empowering higher education, applied research, and human capital development in accounting.

The collaboration is expected to involve hosting globally impactful professional conferences and implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to engage the community.

Additionally, the partnership will encompass research on current issues in both public and private sectors, participation in teaching and learning through the sharing of practical experiences, as well as the development of digital solutions and innovative policies.

In the same statement, Nor Yati said the appointment is not only a personal honour but also a strategic responsibility that reflects the importance of collaboration between policy-implementing institutions and knowledge institutions.

“As the Accountant General, I recognise the vital role of collaboration between educational institutions and implementing agencies. UiTM and JANM share a common vision to develop professional accountants who are not only competent but with integrity and also people-oriented.

“I am grateful to UiTM for the opportunity to contribute not only through lectures but also through policy discussions, curriculum mapping and student mentoring,” she also said.
