MELAKA, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Local authorities (PBT) in Melaka have been told to ensure that all premises, especially private premises licenced under their respective administrations, fly the Jalur Gemilang throughout the national month as a sign of love for the country and to enliven the National Day 2025 celebrations.
State Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin said the directive had already been implemented under the administration of the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB), with all relevant departments distributing notification notices to premises.
“This step will be extended to all other local authorities in Melaka, and although no enforcement action will be taken, this effort needs to be instilled with local authorities playing a role in reminding the public to fulfill their responsibilities as Malaysians who love the country.
"The important thing is that the Jalur Gemilang needs to be flown correctly at each of their premises, and this matter will also continue to be monitored from time to time," he told reporters after attending the MBMB monthly assembly at Dewan Taming Sari here today.
Also present were State Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin and MBMB Mayor Datuk Shadan Othman.
Elaborating further, Rais said the festive atmosphere of this year's National Month celebrations is increasingly felt as public awareness of hoisting the Jalur Gemilang is growing, especially in tourist hotspots such as Bandar Hilir and other locations in the state.
"Insya-Allah, I am confident that the spirit of celebrating the 68th National Day this year will continue to burn among the people of Melaka, and more importantly, this effort can foster a sense of love for the homeland," he added.
