KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Grab Malaysia (Grab) has partnered with the National Women's League (LWN) to be the official e-hailing and food delivery platform for the league, championing the involvement of women in football.
In a statement today, Grab announced that the collaboration aims to elevate the league's prestige and empower the voice of female athletes so that women's football receives the recognition and support it deserves.
The partnership was announced during the launch of the LWN 2025 season at the end of July, which was also witnessed by Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh.
"This year's edition features the participation of eight teams - Kelana United FC, KL Rangers FC, Kuala Lumpur FA, MBSJ FC, Red Eagles FC, Sabah FA, Selangor FC, and Young Tigress.
"Through this partnership, Grab Malaysia will leverage its platform to increase the visibility of LWN matches, enrich the fan experience, and empower female athletes on and off the field," the statement said.
Grab also hopes that through this collaboration, both brands can further ignite the spirit of Malaysians to support women's football while celebrating the resilience, talent, and determination of the players.
In the same statement, Grab Malaysia's Managing Director, Adelene Foo said the partnership aligns with Grab's commitment to empowering women to thrive, whether they are breaking barriers on the field or pursuing opportunities in their daily lives.
"Our partnership with LWN reflects this mission and emphasises our dedication to driving inclusive economic empowerment. Through initiatives like #SisBoleh, we have provided flexible income-generating opportunities for women to help them achieve success on their own terms.
"What is even more inspiring is that some of the league's talented footballers are also drivers and delivery partners on our platform, a symbol of their extraordinary resilience and fighting spirit," she said.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Women's Football Committee, Datuk Suraya Yaacob, described the collaboration as not just a regular partnership but a meaningful movement to elevate women's football and empower the voice of female athletes nationwide.
"Women's sports deserve more coverage and encouragement, and with the support from Grab Malaysia, we are taking significant steps to develop this league and inspire Malaysians to support these incredible athletes.
"Together, we are not only driving progress for women in sports but also creating opportunities for the next generation to dare to dream and achieve greater success," she said.
As part of the collaboration, Grab will use its app to promote LWN matches and players and encourage Malaysians to give strong support to the women's football community.
"Grab will also work with LWN to produce inspirational content highlighting the league and its athletes to increase public engagement and reception.
"At match venues, spectators can enjoy a smoother experience by ordering their favourite food through GrabFood, while LWN players will receive various exclusive rewards and privileges as part of Grab's commitment to empowering women on and off the field," the statement said.
