KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The Friends of Ministry (FOM) initiative is an important bridge that ensures the Malaysia MADANI agenda reaches the grassroots, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the programme, proposed by the MADANI Government Backbenchers Club (BBC), aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between ministries and members of parliament.

“We not only share information but also listen directly to the people’s concerns,” he wrote on Facebook after presenting the Works Ministry’s FOM appointment letters in Parliament today.

The ceremony was attended by Paya Besar MP and BBC chairman Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, as well as several other MPs.

Nanta said FOM’s objectives include providing input and feedback to ministries, supporting policies and motions, backing policy implementation and enhancing communication at all levels.

He also outlined current Works Ministry projects under the FOM initiative, including the Pan Borneo Highway in Sabah and Sarawak, Sarawak–Sabah Link Road, Trans Borneo Highway, and connectivity upgrades such as the Bentong–Kuala Krai Central Spine Road.

“With close cooperation between the ministry, MPs and all stakeholders, we can deliver infrastructure that is safer, more sustainable and of higher quality, bringing lasting benefits to the people,” he said.
