KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Art and culture can be a bridge connecting all segments of society, said Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Prime Minister’s wife said that as the lifeblood of a civilisation, art and culture are not only symbols of creativity and aesthetics but also pillars of values, identity, and national unity.
“So, today, when art and culture practices are brought into the community, we are nurturing the spirit of patriotism that is essential in these trying times,” she said in her speech before launching the Art and Culture Revitalisation Programme with the Bandar Tun Razak community and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign here today.
Also present were the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, and the Cultural Arts Guidance Division of the National Department for Culture and Arts, Salmiyah Ahmad.
Various activities were held today, including the MADANI Agro Sale, Rahmah Sale, health screenings, pantun recitations, sports, a community feast, martial arts workshops, and a dance competition.
“I want the people of Bandar Tun Razak, especially the youth, to spend their time on meaningful activities and steer clear of negative behaviours that can have harmful effects, such as drug addiction, bullying, illegal motorcycle racing, and others,” she said.
