Bernama Scoops Three Awards At 2025 Terengganu Media Appreciation Ceremony

KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) made a strong showing at the 2025 Terengganu Media Appreciation Ceremony yesterday, emerging victorious in three of the five main categories contested.

Bernama Terengganu Bureau journalist Balqis Jamaludin won the Best Digital Media News Award for her report titled Pemuda Ikat Tong Dram Bawah Katil Untuk Keselesaan Bapa Terlantar Sakit, earning her a plaque, certificate and RM1,500 cash prize.

Part-time photographer Mohd Syafiq Ambak was named the winner of the Best Print Media Photo Award for his photo Katil Terapung, while photographer Mohd Khairul Fikiri Osman secured third place in the same category with his photo Rezeki Banjir.

Mohd Syafiq received a plaque, certificate and RM1,500 in cash, while Mohd Khairul Fikiri took home a plaque, certificate and RM500.

The prizes were presented by Terengganu Information, Dakwah and Syariah Empowerment Committee chairman Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi.

In his speech, Dr Muhammad Khalil said the event was held to honour the contributions of media practitioners for their role in connecting the state government with the people.

He said that in an era of borderless communication, the media served as a key force in shaping public perception, with every report carrying significant influence on society.

“One of the major challenges faced by the media today is distinguishing between facts and false information. This is where it is important for us to strengthen journalistic ethics so that the news presented is true, accurate and authentic.

“Thank you to all media friends who continue to provide space and time to highlight current developments in Terengganu. On behalf of the state government, we truly appreciate the media’s long-standing service and role,” he said.
