PORT DICKSON, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- The government’s move to expand access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to tahfiz students is among the best efforts to develop skilled tahfiz professionals, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
He said the initiative would also help produce well-rounded MADANI technocrats who are huffaz (Quran memorisers) and possess the added value of technical expertise.
“Alhamdulillah, this TVET and innovation initiative is a wise and committed approach to empowering tahfiz students in line with the Maqasid Al-Shariah concept (the higher objectives of Islamic law).
“We want to see huffaz who are skilled, have professional careers, and at the same time uphold good character, who can also share religious knowledge with the community,” he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the Middle East Students Nadwah (council) 2025 here today.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was reported as saying that the government will introduce the MADANI TVET Empowerment Financing scheme and TVET Training Fund to encourage youth participation.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli said the three-day event, held for the second time, involved 200 Malaysian students pursuing their studies in the Middle East, including Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates.
He said the programme involved discussions on the concept of MADANI leadership, as well as knowledge of law and nationhood, in navigating current global geopolitical and economic challenges.
"Alhamdulillah, we could see that their understanding (of the MADANI leadership) is improving. We want them to support the central idea behind the MADANI framework in building a Malaysian civilisation grounded in Maqasid Al-Shariah,” he said, adding that the expertise and knowledge that the students have would be further enriched through a more comprehensive understanding of the MADANI mindset.
