SIBU, May 10 (Bernama) -- An elderly woman was killed in an accident involving a 4WD vehicle and an SUV at Km17.7 of Jalan Sibu-Selangau along the Pan Borneo Highway last night.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre spokesman said the 66-year-old victim, who was trapped in the front passenger seat of the SUV, died on the spot.
He said the department received an emergency call at 9.49 pm, and a team from the Sungai Merah station was dispatched to the scene.
“The woman was found unconscious and still trapped in the front passenger seat, while two other passengers sustained injuries and the driver was unhurt. All the victims were aged between 56 and 76.
“The male driver and three female passengers of the 4WD were also unhurt,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further action.
