PUTRAJAYA, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) has identified its candidates for the 17th Sabah state election, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
He said the coalition has completed its preparations for the polls, including discussions with the Sabah BN leadership, which has its own autonomy.
“At the BN level, I can say that preparations are complete, and we are only waiting for the right time to announce the list of candidates.
“Insya-Allah, we expect the BN chairman together with the Sabah leadership to make the announcement at an appropriate time,” he told reporters after inspecting preparations for the Putrajaya Festival of Ideas at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) today.
Earlier, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported as saying that the party is expected to announce its list of candidates and the seats it will contest a week before nomination day.
He also said BN will not contest all 73 seats, but will instead focus on selected constituencies.
The Election Commission has set Nov 29 as polling day for the state election, with nomination day on Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
The Sabah State Assembly has 79 seats, of which 73 are contested, while the remaining six are appointed assembly members.
