913 Flood Victims In Kedah, Perak Still Housed At Relief Centres

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Kedah and Perak is showing signs of improvement, with the number of victims sheltering at temporary relief centres (PPS) dropping to 913 tonight from 985 this afternoon.

In KEDAH, the number of victims recorded a slight decrease, with 774 people from 216 families housed at five PPS compared with 781 people from 217 families earlier in the day.

The Kedah State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said the Pendang district continues to record the highest number of evacuees, with 577 individuals from 161 families taking shelter at three PPS.

In Kota Setar, 138 people from 38 families are housed at one PPS, while 59 people from 17 families in Pokok Sena remain at a single PPS that is still operating.

In PERAK, the number of flood victims also dropped, with 139 people from 38 families still housed at two PPS in the Manjung district, compared with 204 people from 59 families this afternoon.

The Perak JPBN said the Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai PPS continues to house 130 people from 36 families.

Meanwhile, the number of victims at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Batu PPS decreased to nine people from two families, compared with 74 people from 23 families this afternoon.
