National Month 2025: People Invited To Fly The Jalur Gemilang With Respect

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The launch ceremony of National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign 2025, which will be held at Dataran Tanjung Emas, Muar, Johor on July 27, aims to ignite the spirit of patriotism and foster the culture of hoisting the Jalur Gemilang nationwide.

Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan said that the launch would be the main focus of this year's National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, with an emphasis on appreciating peace and the sovereignty of the country through the symbol of the national flag.

"We want the people not just to fly the Jalur Gemilang, but to do so in the right and respectful way. Ensure the flag is in good condition, not worn out or torn, and is displayed in the correct place and position," she said to Bernama after being a guest on the “Apa Khabar Malaysia” programme on Bernama TV here today.

Julina said this year's programme also highlights a people-centric approach and the implementation of various government initiatives for the well-being of the community, in line with the theme of the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, which is “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni.”

According to Julina, although the main event is scheduled for July 27, the programme’s activities will start earlier on July 25 with the organisation of the Karnival Kita MADANI.

"This carnival's main components involve service booths by government agencies such as the Road Transport Department (JPJ), free health and dental check-ups, as well as entrepreneurship booths that gather local entrepreneurs with various special Johor delicacies through food trucks," she said.

On July 26, various family and community activities will also be organised, including colouring competitions as well as local arts and cultural performances.

The highlight event on July 27 will begin with the Merdeka 6.8 KM Fun Run & Walk, which is open to everyone and has free registration.

"Additionally, the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Convoy programme involving water transport assets will also enliven this launch event," she said.

Julina also said the three-day programme aims to attract more than 10,000 visitors with various attractions, including a 30 per cent discount on traffic summonses by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and the provision of special counters by the Muar Municipal Council.

"Such initiatives are rarely offered, so I urge the public to seize this opportunity. We want this launch to be a catalyst for national spirit and to strengthen the love for our homeland.

"More importantly, it marks the beginning of a more vibrant National Day and Malaysia Day celebration. All parties are encouraged to fly the Jalur Gemilang not only at their residences but also at premises and organisations throughout the country," she added.
