MYSA Enhances Agricultural Activities In Kg Parit Empat; Donates Assets Worth RM340,000

SUNGAI BESAR, July 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) has channelled agricultural assets, worth RM340,000, to Kampung Parit Empat here through the MADANI Adopted Village (KAM) programme to empower the community through an integrated and inclusive approach.

Its director-general, Datuk Azlikamil Napiah said the agricultural assets included paddy processing machines and agricultural drones for the purpose of increasing efficiency and income from agricultural activities in line with the latest technology and needs.

"Through allocations from the Ministry of Finance, MYSA and strategic partners have also created additional economic resources through the Villagers' Economic Enhancement Programme for them to generate additional income from new economic activities other than existing paddy production.

"Under the programme there will be a Freshwater Fish Breeding Project, a One-Stop Traditional Herb and Stingless Bee Farming Centre Project, a Sweet Melon Planting Project, an Agricultural Drone Service Provider Project and a Paddy to Rice Processing Machine Project," he said when met after officiating the two-day MADANI Community Carnival at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Besar here today.

He said MYSA will also upgrade five suraus under the Villagers' Infrastructure and Facilities Upgrade Programme in the area concerned, involving Kampung Parit 1 Timur till Kampung Parit 4 Timur.

He said MYSA will also focus on empowering the younger generation living in rural areas in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) as well as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

"In conjunction with the MADANI MYSA Community Carnival, we collaborated with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Universiti Teknologi Mara (Hemrel UiTM) to organise the Selangor State Level ‘Pertandingan Mencipta dan Melancarkan Roket Air dan Roket Pepejal’

"The two-day competition successfully attracted more than 80 primary and secondary schools from all over Selangor, with the participation of more than 600 students and accompanying teachers," he said.

According to him, the agency is also committed to responding to the government's call to encourage mastery of STI and STEM fields, especially early exposure to Space Science aspects so that it continues to gain a place among students.

Meanwhile, among the interesting highlights of the MADANI MYSA Community Carnival include a space exploration exhibition in virtual reality, science experiment demonstrations, solar observations, sales of KAM MYSA residents' products, tree grafting agriculture demonstrations and the sale of fruit tree seedlings.
