JOHOR BAHRU, July 10 (Bernama) -- The Johor state government will discuss with the Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding the immediate replacement of health workers involving doctors and nurses in the state who will be transferred to Hospital Pasir Gudang (HPG), here.
State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the transfer would involve doctors and nurses from public hospitals throughout the state.
"I will go to the Ministry of Health tomorrow to discuss the matters that have been discussed in the past few days, especially the shortage of staff at our hospitals.
"This is to ensure that the vacant positions that have been transferred (to HPG) can be filled immediately," he said at a press conference after the Johor State Nurses Day Celebration 2025, here today.
Also present was Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
Ling said some of them were transferred to ensure that HPG is able to operate according to schedule on Aug 1.
"Usually, the Johor State Health Department will offer them to those who may live close to the hospital.
"..or they themselves choose to return to their place of residence to serve. This is to ensure that the hospital can operate according to schedule," he said.
Therefore, he said the state government is ready to work together in formulating a strategy to resolve the issue which involves medium and long-term plans.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad was quoted as saying that HPG will operate in phases starting Aug 1, involving essential service areas.
He said this includes Accident and Emergency (A&E), Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Paediatric Departments.
