BINTULU, June 27 (Bernama) -- Two individuals were injured in a fire that destroyed nine wooden houses along Jalan Tatau-Sangan early this morning.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, the emergency call was received at 12.56am.
A team, involving 11 personnel from the Tatau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.
One of the victims, a 26-year-old man, sustained burns to his left arm and back, while a 27-year-old woman suffered burns on her left arm.
The fire completely destroyed all nine houses, along with three motorcycles and ten nearby vehicles.
Firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby areas and the fire was fully brought under control at 8.20am.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
