Dungun UiTM Student Accident: Victim's Family Grateful To Amirudin, Selangor Govt For Compensation

SHAH ALAM, June 11 (Bernama) -- The family of Ku Adib Aizad, a student of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun, Terengganu who died in an accident in front of the campus on Oct 9 last year, have expressed their gratitude to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shahri and the state government for providing takaful compensation for their son's education loan.

Besides providing compensation amounting to RM20,803.67, the state government has also waived the education loan of RM15,050.00 that the deceased had received, which freed the student's family from having to repay the loan.

Ku Adib's father, Ku Azmi Saad, said the initiative shows Amirudin and the state government's concern in helping them after the sudden loss of their beloved family member.

He said that when the Menteri Besar visited their family on the night of October 10 last year, he asked about the status of Ku Adib's loan and payment because his son was a loan recipient under the Selangor Foundation, and Amirudin promised to refer the matter to the relevant authorities.

"After that, I was asked to submit several documents to the Selangor State Scholarship Fund (TKWBNS) while they referred the matter to the Menteri Besar.

"Alhamdulillah, as promised by the menteri besar to help with Ku Adib's education loan in his visit last year, the matter has been realised today," he said when met after the compensation handover ceremony which Amirudin presented at the State Secretariat building here today.

Also present was Ku Adib's mother, Hafizah Iszahanid.

Ku Adib Aizad, 21, a TKWBNS-sponsored student was one of the three victims who died in the accident at 7.35 pm after the two motorcycles they were riding were hit by a Honda CRV driven by a woman in front of the campus.
