KUALA TERENGGANU, June 4 (Bernama) -- A group of East Coast-based media practitioners were given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) technology through the ‘AI-Powered Content Creation & Editorial Automation’ two-day training programme here, organised by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).

Bernama Centre of Excellence manager Ridzuan Mohd Ghazali said a total of 25 media practitioners from Terengganu and Kelantan attended the training that kicked off yesterday.

“This time, we are focusing on content creation using AI technology, exposing East Coast media practitioners to how AI can help them produce more creative news reports using simpler methods. We hope this benefits the participants,” he told Bernama here today.

He said Terengganu is the fifth location for the training, following sessions in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Sarawak and Sabah, with the Bernama Centre of Excellence coordinating the AI course under the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2025 allocation.

Meanwhile, one of the course instructors, Dr Normala Rahim, said the training provides insights into how participants can develop creative digital content, including producing news scripts and generating complex images and videos using AI technology.

Normala, a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Informatics and Computing at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, said based on her observations, media practitioners in the East Coast, particularly in Terengganu, are still relatively new to exploring the various AI tools available.

“I encourage media practitioners to fully utilise AI tools to produce better and more creative work or news reports, suited to current and future generations.

“However, I also remind them to uphold ethics and use AI technology to enhance their work, not to replace their roles,” she said.
