SINGAPORE, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver George Russell claimed victory at the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday night, in a race that also saw McLaren securing the 2025 Constructors’ Championship with six races remaining.
The 27-year-old driver, who started from pole position at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, completed the race in 1 hour 40 minutes 22.367 seconds.
Four-time world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who started behind Russell, successfully defended his position to finish second, while McLaren’s Lando Norris came in third to complete the podium.
Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri, who began the race in third position, finished fourth, with Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli taking fifth place.
McLaren, who entered the Singapore Grand Prix with 623 points, clinched their second consecutive constructors’ title with 650 points – ahead of Mercedes (325 points) and Ferrari (300 points) following Sunday’s race.
The teams will next head to the United States, where McLaren’s Piastri and Norris will continue their battle for the drivers’ championship, with 336 and 314 points respectively.
