Sabah East Coast Areas Experiencing Power Outages

TAWAU, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The 275KV Kolopis-Segaliud transmission line, involving line 1 and line 2, is currently experiencing disruption, according to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd on its official Facebook page.

Sabah Electricity said that as a result, districts on the east coast of Sabah, including Sandakan, Lahad, Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna and Beluran experienced power outages.

“The disruption occurred at 5.05 pm, and inspection work is underway to identify the cause,” it said in a statement on its Facebook page today.

"Our company will provide updates from time to time, and any inconvenience experienced is deeply regretted."

Meanwhile, on the same Facebook page, Sabah Electricity also announced that several areas in Tawau are also experiencing power outages, and the cause of the problem is being identified while power restoration is being carried out in stages.

In its latest update, Sabah Electricity said that its technical team was on-site at the affected line located in Kampung Sarapong and Kampung Moyog in Penampang, which is situated on the west coast of Sabah.

“The landslide towards the transmission tower made it difficult for Sabah Electricity to pass through the area,” it said.

"The current heavy rain conditions are also making the inspection process difficult."

However, it added that the work to trace the cause of the damage will continue, with priority given to the safety of the technical team on duty.
