KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) acknowledges and respects the decision by the Kuala Lumpur High Court regarding its application for an interim injunction in a civil case involving Telegram.
In a statement today, MCMC confirmed that the court has granted an interim prohibitory injunction preventing the defendants, including administrators of the Telegram accounts Edisi Siasat and Edisi Khas, from publishing, distributing, or rebroadcasting disputed content as outlined in MCMC’s legal claims.
“This decision aligns with MCMC’s role under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 to protect consumer interests and ensure digital platforms are not misused,” the statement read.
MCMC also said it will continue to monitor compliance with the injunction, while other matters raised in the lawsuit will be determined during the full trial.
“MCMC remains committed to making Malaysia’s digital space safer, shielding the public from fraud, harmful content, and misuse,” it added.
