10/09/2025 09:35 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu advised all Malaysians in the Nepali capital on Wednesday to remain indoors until further notice, following the government's extension of a curfew.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the embassy said the Nepali authorities have extended the curfew until 6 am on Thursday (Sept 11), while Tribhuvan International Airport will remain closed until 6 pm today (Wednesday).

“All Malaysians in Kathmandu are advised to remain indoors until the situation improves,” the embassy said.

Those requiring consular assistance may contact the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu via phone at +977-1-5445680 or 980-100-8000, or email at mwkathmandu@kln.gov.my.

Meanwhile, Malaysians travelling with Nepal Airlines who are affected by the airport closure have been advised to contact the airline directly to make arrangements for flight rescheduling.

For international reservations, passengers may reach out to the airline via the following contact numbers: 9843647125, 9841962064, or 9851055357.

For matters related to international ticket sales, Nepal Airlines may be contacted through these numbers: 9851062802, 9849830904, or 9844540277.

The embassy also reminded Malaysians to stay safe, remain indoors, and closely monitor official announcements from local authorities.

In the latest development, the Nepalese Army has imposed "prohibitory orders" as uneasy calm prevailed in the country on Wednesday, a day after widespread protests that ousted the government of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing a local daily.

At least 20 protesters, mostly youth, were killed and nearly 350 others injured since Monday when protests broke out following a ban on social media by the government.
