In a statement on Tuesday, the embassy nevertheless advised Malaysians in Qatar to remain vigilant and avoid the affected area.

“They are also advised to keep abreast of current developments through official information released by the Qatari authorities,” the embassy said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

The statement further noted that the Qatari government has assured that the situation is now fully under control and that the country’s airspace will not be closed.
