Santuni MADANI: Masjid Kampung Terentang Renovation To Be Completed By Year-End

KUALA PILAH, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- The Masjid Kariah Kampung Terentang, inaugurated by former Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak in 1962, is set for a makeover and is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year, with a capacity to accommodate up to 700 congregants.

The renovation of the 63-year-old mosque is part of the facilities and infrastructure initiatives under the Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung (One Leader One Village) (Santuni MADANI) initiative by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the mosque renovation involves a cost of RM2.2 million, while the construction of a new Kampung Terentang community hall carries an additional cost of about RM400,000.

“This mosque is expected to be ready for use next year. Residents will also be able to perform Tarawih and Aidilfitri prayers there. The construction of the public hall is intended to replace the old building, which was dilapidated and on the verge of collapse,” he told reporters after officiating the Kampung Terentang community hall in conjunction with the Santuni MADANI programme today.

Azam, a native of Kampung Terentang, said that the Santuni MADANI programme is an initiative involving department heads to improve infrastructure in their respective villages, thereby strengthening ties between civil servants and the local community.

Meanwhile, he said Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Senawang was selected under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted School) initiative, and MACC will be installing 16 air-conditioning units worth RM100,000.

“MACC has also taken the initiative to assist Kampung Sungai Buah in Dengkil, Selangor, as well as several other schools selected under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI, including Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Lebar and SMK King George V,” he said.

Azam said that, in addition to upgrading the village’s building infrastructure, MACC also presented donations to asnaf and other needy groups in the community.
