KOTA BHARU, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra today declared Setangan Getam Budu as one of Kelantan’s heritage.
The proclamation was made when he officiated the Kelantan Malay Textile and Heritage Festival 2025 at Istana Balai Besar, here.
Meanwhile, the Protocol Officer of the Kelantan Sultan’s Office and coordinator of the festival, Mohamed Safaruddin Ismail, said Setangan Getam Budu was a ceremonial attire used until 1925.
“Interestingly, today marks exactly 100 years since it (Getam Budu) was last used. The highlight of the opening ceremony was the parade of two elephants and the golden flowers,” he said.
The festival, which began last Sunday and runs until Sept 10, showcases various collections of traditional textiles including woven cloth, songket, pelangi cloth, telepuk cloth, and kelingkan cloth once worn by nobles and royalty.
