KUANTAN, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is leading Malaysia’s delegation to the Chief Ministers and Governors’ Forum (CMGF) of the Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), held in Trang, Thailand, beginning yesterday.
Wan Rosdy said the trust placed in him to head the Malaysian delegation reflects recognition of Pahang at the ASEAN and international levels.
He said the forum provides countries with the opportunity to share views, address common challenges and chart future directions.
“Since its establishment in 1993, IMT-GT has been an important platform to strengthen regional cooperation, not only in economic development but also in social inclusion and environmental sustainability,” he said in a Facebook post today.
At the same time, he said the Malaysian delegation also emphasised the importance of key areas such as strengthening infrastructure, digital transformation, sustainable development and people-to-people connectivity.
“I also highlighted five key development projects in Pahang, namely transit-oriented development (TOD) and the implementation of economic accelerator projects (LEAPs) at seven stations along the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), positioning Gebeng as a regional Halal Industrial Park, as well as the development of Wagyu beef and dairy industries,” he said.
In addition, Wan Rosdy said he also focused on promoting ‘Visit Pahang’ in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, and the development of Lipis Geopark towards recognition as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Global Geopark.
“This is the key to making our region more competitive, inclusive and prosperous. I believe with wisdom and cooperation from all parties, IMT-GT can unlock the full potential of this region for the well-being of the people and future generations,” he said.
