KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Education (MoE) is intensifying safety audits across all boarding schools, said Education director-general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad.
In a Facebook post, he said 54 schools were audited between Aug 24 and 29, covering fully residential schools, central hostels, rural hostels, and daily school hostels.
“The audit focused on several aspects, including warden duty schedules, monitoring of complaint records, the number of wardens, night lighting, and closed-circuit television (CCTV),” he said.
According to Mohd Azam, all schools inspected complied with duty schedules and monitored complaint records. Of the total, 49 had a sufficient number of wardens and adequate lighting, while 24 were equipped with functioning CCTV.
He added that anti-bullying intervention programmes were also implemented in all audited schools, covering prevention, rehabilitation, development, and crisis management.
“The MoE emphasises that continuous improvements in school safety must remain a priority. To date, 110 boarding schools have been audited,” he said.
He added that the audits will be expanded nationwide to safeguard the welfare of students, teachers, and the wider school community.
