MA Men's, Women's 4x100m Quartets Triumph At 2025 Malaysian Open Athletics Meet

KANGAR, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Athletics (MA) men’s and women’s 4x100 metre (m) quartets emerged as champions in their respective categories on the last day of the 2025 Malaysian Open Athletics Championship at Tuanku Syed Putra here today.

MA’s team of Khairul Hafiz Jantan, Jonathan Nyepa, Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee and Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam finished first with a time of 39.68 seconds (s), ahead of Malaysia University Sports Council, who were second (40.22s) with third place going to another MA team took third (40.56s).

In the women’s 4x100m final with only two teams competing, MA’s Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli, Azreen Nabila Alias, Nurul Wardatul Huwaida Mohd Hamka and Nur Aishah Rofina Aling  won with a time of 45.58s ahead of Terengganu (50.38s).

After the race, Danish Iftikhar, 18, described his win with experienced national sprinters Khairul Hafiz and Jonathan as an honour for him and would spur him to redoubling his efforst to improve his personal best time.

“I will do my best for Malaysia if I can at the South East Asian (SEA) Games. For the 100m, I only listen to the coach and focus on training and rehabilitation. I don’t have high hopes,” he said.

Khairul Hafiz, 27, shared that he could see the improvement in running quality displayed by Pengiran Aidil and Danish Iftikhar and was optimistic that it would serve as an advantage for the national team to win a medal at the 2025 SEA Games.

“We know that we brought back a medal in the previous SEA Games and this year, I see juniors like Danish Iftikhar and Pengiran Aidil improving. For me, this is will help the team win a medal,” he added.
