TUMPAT, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Nationhood Academy (AKM) has highlighted the importance of the Malaysia MADANI Nationhood training module as a platform to strengthen unity across races and religions, while ensuring inclusivity for minority communities nationwide, said its director-general, Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin.
He said AKM is tasked with implementing programmes that promote patriotism without aligning with any political ideology.
He stressed that minority communities, including the Siamese, will be given equal attention to strengthen solidarity and love for the country while safeguarding peace and harmony.
“AKM also serves as a facilitator for every community, in education or other fields. Minority groups play a crucial role in keeping the spirit of independence alive. We have never sidelined any community, big or small.
“All groups are given equal focus to keep the spirit of patriotism alive,” he said after flagging off members of the Siamese community for the Kembara Merdeka convoy of motorcycles and vintage Volkswagen cars in conjunction with the 68th National Day at Wat Phikulthong, Tumpat, today.
Roslan added that AKM’s efforts are not limited to the Siamese community in Kelantan, but also extend to Kedah, Perlis and other states.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Siamese Association chairman Ahrin Alak said today’s programme included the hoisting of the Jalur Gemilang, followed by the convoy of motorcycles and vintage Volkswagen cars to surrounding villages.
“The event involves the Siamese community from nearby districts, drawing 300 to 500 participants, including students and residents, and marks its third edition.
“This annual programme not only promotes Thai language education but also encourages unity and respect for the law, in line with Malaysia’s spirit of independence,” he said.
