Sungai Petani Keretapi Sarong Aims To Be Platform For Various Races To Gather

SUNGAI PETANI, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The Sungai Petani Keretapi Sarong 2025 Programme, themed ‘Serumpun’, is aimed at being a platform to gather the various races in the country.

Programme coordinator Azad Ashraf Sani said it is organised by Kolektif Biggy and scheduled to be held on Sept 13 in conjunction with the National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations.

"Following the overwhelming success of last year's programme, we are aiming for 5,000 participants this year.

"Similar to last year, the participants will take the train from their respective locations and gather at the Sungai Petani KTMB Station before heading to the main location in Jalan Petani," he said when met by reporters here today.

He said that various interesting activities will be held on that day from 9 am to 5 pm, and will involve the participation of youth from Perlis, Kedah and northern Penang.

"This programme will not only showcase the clothing and culture of the various races, but also helps to build networks among local young entrepreneurs.

“It is estimated that 40 to 50 entrepreneurs will also participate in this programme...where, besides running their businesses, they can also expand their network of contacts to help grow their businesses," he also said.

Meanwhile, Sungai Petani member of parliament Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said his team supports the organisation of the programme in conjunction with National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations.

"Programmes such as these need to be welcomed by all parties, especially as we celebrate independence and Malaysia Day. These types of events can foster the spirit of unity and racial harmony in our country, as well as unite all the races here," he also said.
