BUSAN, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting (EMM) in South Korea has created a platform for Malaysia to prepare for the energy challenges ahead while drawing closer ties with its member economies to advance Malaysia’s energy transformation.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the participation of energy industry experts and the sharing of energy report outcomes during the APEC EMM15 gave a clear and comprehensive picture of the current situation in the APEC member countries.

“This is particularly important for Malaysia’s readiness to face all the challenges that will come.

“All 21 APEC economies also agree that we need to guarantee electricity supply, efficiency and affordability in terms of payment by users,” he told the media on the sidelines of APEC EMM15 today.

Fadillah also said that power grid stability was among the topics discussed during the two-day meeting, with a highlight on how to ensure a smart grid and a smarter system.

“All in all, we got the consensus of all countries that we have to ensure how cooperation between countries helps in terms of transfer of technology, financing perspective and also increasing the efficiency of countries in this region through cooperation,” he said.
