SEREMBAN, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the number of drug addicts in Negeri Sembilan has dropped from 6,500 people last year to 5,600 so far.
He said that with the reduction of 900 cases, the state now has the second-lowest number of drug addicts recorded in the country.
He attributed the achievement to the implementation of various integrated approaches between the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), the local communities and leadership.
"Many red (hotspot) areas have been turned to 'green’, and the green areas have been turned to 'yellow’… this is due to the continuous intervention of all parties,” he told a media conference after the state executive council meeting at Wisma Negeri today.
In another development, Aminuddin said the state government will upgrade facilities at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi for the comfort of visitors.
He said that upgrading work will be carried out soon to ensure the facilities like seats, toilets and prayer rooms can be properly used.
