IPOH, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah graced the 2nd Universiti Malaya (UM)-National University of Singapore (NUS) Joint Academic Symposium 2025 here today, with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who is NUS Chancellor, in attendance.
UM Vice Chancellor Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman and NUS President Tan Eng Chye were also present.
The symposium, which coincided with the 54th UM-NUS Inter-University Tunku Chancellor Golf Tournament, is part of a series of commemorative events celebrating over six decades of collaboration between UM and NUS.
This year's symposium on precision health included 10 keynote addresses and technical talks from leading scholars and clinicians from both universities, along with a special presentation highlighting the shared history of Singapore and Malaysia.
The previous joint academic symposium in 2024 was held at NUS and focused on biomedical engineering.
Meanwhile, Sultan Nazrin also participated in the golf tournament prize presentation luncheon, where he awarded prizes to the winners.
Earlier in the morning, over 100 golfers from NUS and UM took part in the tournament.
Yesterday, Sultan Nazrin, who is also the Chancellor of UM, held a meeting with Tharman and the NUS delegation at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
This was followed by a royal dinner hosted by Sultan Nazrin and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.
