MELAKA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- SWM Environment Sdn Bhd is partnering with the Melaka Broadcasting Department via Melaka FM to collect 10,000 kg (10 tonnes) of plastic bottles during the 2025 National Month.
SWM Environment Corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the inaugural collaboration aims to set a record in The Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).
“This initiative is part of our target to collect 10,000 kg of plastic bottles nationwide during the Jelajah Aspirasi Malaysia 2025 programme and the 68th National Day celebrations.
“We fully support this effort, which aligns with SWM Environment’s mission to promote sustainable living among the community,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Norlisam added that SWM Environment is pleased to work with Melaka FM, known as the state’s number one radio station, to support collection efforts and data recording under the KITARecycle programme.
He said the collaboration is not merely to set a record but also a significant symbol of unity, shared responsibility and patriotism towards protecting the environment.
He added that the initiative encourages waste separation at source and recycling to reduce the number of plastic bottles sent to landfills.
“To achieve this goal, SWM Environment and Melaka FM are working with the Melaka State Education Department and Petron Malaysia to collect plastic bottles at 22 schools and 29 petrol stations.
“The public, especially Melaka residents, are encouraged to support this mission by sending used plastic bottles to the designated collection points throughout the state until Aug 30,” he said.
Among the drop-off points are the guardhouse of the Melaka Broadcasting Department on Jalan Taming Sari, Petron stations statewide, and SWM Environment’s KITARecycle facilities, including Melaka Botanical Garden in Ayer Keroh, the drop-off point at TS Park, Taman Desa Bertam, as well as 53 KITARecycle cages throughout the state.
