SHAH ALAM, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Israel must respect the Gaza ceasefire plan by halting its attacks and allowing the immediate entry of humanitarian aid following Hamas’ agreement to the first phase of the peace plan.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Haimidi, who also expressed his appreciation for the agreement, is confident that Hamas will conduct a further review of several issues before finalising the ceasefire.
"However, the most important thing is that the war, oppression, famine and deaths due to diseases that have cropped up as a result of the war must be stopped… most importantly, Gaza and Palestine must be saved,” he said.
He told reporters this after officiating the closing ceremony of the National Level Konvensyen 152 (Article 152 of the Federal Constitution) at Universiti Teknologi Mara here today.
Ahmad Zahid said Israel must also release all Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) participants who are still under detention and learn to respect the voices of the world that generally condemns its atrocities.
Earlier, international media reported that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of the Gaza peace plan that was proposed by the United States (US), allowing the release of all hostages.
