JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Digital Innovation Creativepreneur 3.0 (DICE 3.0) programme, which gathered 320 students and lecturers from across Malaysia as well as Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei today, received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the “Most Digital Start-up Projects by Students in an International Programme.”
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said DICE, jointly organised by his ministry and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), showcased 64 creative digital content projects including short animations, short films, interactive media applications (VR/AR) and digital games applications.
He said the recognition elevates and nurtures students’ talents from institutions of higher learning to be more competitive in producing creative digital content.
“This is a major national achievement as it has been listed in the MBOR. Young people today possess an incredible level of creativity, especially given that (the economy’s focus) now is largely based on the digital economy,” he said at a press conference after officiating DICE 3.0 at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre here today.
Also present were Higher Education Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Dr Anesee Ibrahim and UniSZA Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Fadzli Adam.
Meanwhile, Zambry said DICE is capable of shaping a more dynamic student entrepreneurial ecosystem, in line with the needs of the digital creative industry, thereby driving the potential of higher education entrepreneurs to compete globally.
He added that participating students are expected to fully utilise their experience and regard DICE as the first leap towards producing world-class creative digital products.
Meanwhile, Fadzli in his speech stressed that the MBOR recognition not only makes UniSZA proud as the host, but also raises Malaysia’s profile in the regional creative digital content landscape.
He said DICE also plays a role as a training, mentoring and talent incubation ecosystem that has paved the way for the establishment of student start-up companies and potential commercialised projects.
