NILAI, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- The aroma of daging salai masak lemak cili api, the delicious taste of sate tulang, and the sweetness of apam balik Seri Menanti were among the main attractions for visitors at the ‘Selera Nogori’ section, at the Negeri Sembilan edition of the MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, currently underway at Dataran Nilai.
These dishes not only whet the appetite but also provide local entrepreneurs with a valuable platform to showcase and promote their food products to the thousands of visitors attending the programme.
Ridzuan Mohd Yusof, 40, said that since 9 am this morning, visitors and agencies’ staff attending the programme have been stopping by his stall to sample the delicious sate tulang (grilled meat, often mutton or beef, with bones), the signature dish of Durich Sate Tulang Jelebu stall.
He described the participation of local entrepreneurs in the Negeri Sembilan PMR as an excellent opportunity to introduce traditional Jelebu products to the public, particularly the younger generation who may have never tasted them.
“I sell premium beef and lamb, and visitors also get to experience the uniqueness of sate tulang, which has a different taste from regular meat. Each skewer is sold here for between RM2 and RM5,” he said.
“Today, the sales target is only 2,000 sticks, but I have seen a very encouraging response this morning. Tomorrow and Sunday, I will bring in more stock as I expect even more visitors,” he told Bernama today.
Meanwhile, Tok Salai Nilai stall operator Muzaimah Mohd, 32, said that the PMR provides local entrepreneurs with a valuable platform to promote their products - not only to residents, but also to attract visitors from nearby states such as Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
“Programmes like this really help us, especially small entrepreneurs, to expand our customer network and introduce our brands to a wider audience. My stall is located in Pekan Nilai and has only been operating for eight months, so this is the best opportunity for me to promote my products,” she said.
Muzaimah added that her stall offers rice sets with daging salai, itik salai, perut lembu salai and rebung, as well as a breakfast menu of lempeng priced from RM5 to RM17, available from 7.30 am to 10 pm.
Meanwhile, Amir Rizwan Roslan, 39, who sells apam balik Seri Menanti, also attracted visitors’ attention by offering a variety of interesting flavours such as red velvet, green tea, oreo, and biscoff, sold at RM20 per box, while the original apam balik is offered at RM5 for four pieces.
Apart from selling food products, Amir Rizwan is also using the programme as a platform to connect with other entrepreneurs who may be interested in starting a business with him through a franchise concept.
The PMR, organised by the government, aims to empower the people’s economy by providing a platform for small and medium-sized traders to showcase local products, while also increasing community involvement in the state’s inclusive development agenda.
The Negeri Sembilan PMR is being held for three days starting today, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled to officiate the programme tomorrow.
