KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) is targeting RM4 million in transaction value for the five-day One District One Industry (SDSI) showcase at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said RM3 million is targeted from PADANIAGA business matching activities and RM1 million from the entrepreneur financing initiative at the national-level event.

The programme, which began on July 30, is being held simultaneously with the Felda Settlers’ Day celebration and the Rural Entrepreneurs Carnival (KUD) under the Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D). The carnival is expected to attract two million visitors, potentially doubling the sales for SDSI entrepreneurs.

“This is the first time KUSKOP is collaborating with the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and Felda to organise three large-scale national programmes concurrently.

“This approach is hoped to create greater synergy, especially in terms of its impact on SDSI entrepreneurs,” he said in a statement today.

Ewon said the SDSI showcase is KUSKOP’s initiative to build a more inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem for SDSI enterprises and local entrepreneurs.

The programme also serves as a commercialisation platform through exhibitions and product sales that reflect each district’s identity, encompassing food and beverage clusters, health products and services, handicrafts, and homestays.

In addition, Ewon said the MK3D carnival also aims to bridge the gap between the government and the people, in line with the aspirations of the MADANI government to ensure all initiatives are truly understood and appreciated by the rakyat.

At the same time, he also urged the public to attend the carnival, open from 10 am to 10 pm daily at MITEC until Sunday, to take advantage of the various opportunities and initiatives offered.

A total of 154 entrepreneurs nationwide are participating in the SDSI showcase, which aims to raise public awareness about the quality and potential of SDSI products.

Fourteen state pavilions, each housing 10 entrepreneurs from the states, have been set up in Hall 5, Level 2 of MITEC, while 14 additional entrepreneurs are located under the KKDW pavilion.

Key highlights include the Citarasa Desa (Flavours of the Village) programme, SDSI forum, business matching sessions, and entrepreneur financing programme. Supporting activities such as entrepreneurship talks, pocket talks and product demonstrations were also organised.
