GUA MUSANG, July 28 (Bernama) -- Water samples from Sungai Ketil have been sent to the Chemistry Department for testing after hundreds of fish were found dead in Rimba Wangi Recreational Park here recently.
Kelantan Department of Environment (DOE) director Wan Aminordin Wan Kamarudin said they also issued orders to monitor the river immediately to ensure the fish kill incident would not recur.
"We have received complaints about the fish kill incident in Sungai Ketil near Rimba Wangi Recreational Park and we are concerned about the matter. Each time we receive a complaint, action, including monitoring, is taken.
"The complaint about dark water was resolved previously, but now we have a fish kill case,” he said when contacted by Bernama recently.
He added that the department was uncertain whether the Fisheries Department has been informed to gather a sample of the fish to identify the real cause behind the fish kill.
