PPZ-MAIWP, Gloria Jean's Coffees Collaborate To Promote Contemporary Lifestyle And Encourage Zakat Payment

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) is collaborating with international coffee brand Gloria Jean’s Coffees to bring a fresh touch to the ‘Jom Potong 2025’ campaign.

Carrying the tagline “Coffee makes your day better, but zakat makes your life better,” the campaign aims to promote a contemporary lifestyle while encouraging Muslims to consistently fulfil their zakat obligations through the Monthly Zakat Deduction Scheme (Skim PZB).

PPZ-MAIWP chairman Datuk Sri Amrin Awaluddin said the collaboration with Gloria Jean’s Coffees was not only due to the brand’s prominence, but also because of the values it represented, such as comfort, community and quality lifestyle – all of which aligned with PPZ-MAIWP’s inclusive approach to zakat outreach.

“What is even more meaningful is that Gloria Jean’s Coffees is also a zakat contributor to PPZ-MAIWP under Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas). This collaboration is not merely symbolic but also significant in terms of institutional responsibility,” he said during the launch of the campaign here today.

Also present were PPZ-MAIWP chief executive officer Datuk Haji Abdul Hakim Amir Osman, Pernas Franchise Services chief officer Azizam Ramli and Gloria Jean’s Coffees chief executive officer Zafrul Azman Mohamed Azraai.

Meanwhile, Azizam, representing Pernas CEO Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib, said the collaboration reflected the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting awareness of zakat in a practical and holistic manner.

“As the agency spearheading the national franchise industry, we believe that business blessings come when wealth is shared and channelled back to society.

“Gloria Jean’s Coffees, as a wholly owned brand under Pernas, embodies Muslim-friendly values and halal quality, making it an ideal strategic partner to deliver the campaign message of connecting modern lifestyle with spiritual practices like consistent zakat payments,” he said.

In a statement, PPZ-MAIWP said it aimed to collect RM140 million through the Jom Potong 2025 campaign with Gloria Jean’s Coffees, compared to RM130.35 million recorded last year.

“A range of attractive rewards, including travel packages to six countries, umrah packages and asnaf products are being offered. Additionally, the first 5,000 zakat contributors who initiate or increase their zakat deductions will receive an RM5 Gloria Jean’s Coffees voucher with a minimum purchase of RM15, subject to terms and conditions,” it said.

Through the collaboration, members of the public can visit ptg.zakat.com.my before registering for the Skim PZB using the QR code displayed on promotional buntings or cup sleeves placed at Gloria Jean’s Coffees outlets across the Federal Territories.

To further ease the registration process and provide more information, special information counters will also be set up at selected strategic branches during the campaign period.

“Each payer will also be covered under the ‘Kafalah Muzakki’ scheme, also known as a death benefit scheme, where the next-of-kin will be eligible to receive a monetary contribution of up to RM3,000 in the event of the zakat payer’s death,” PPZ-MAIWP said.

Participation in the campaign can be done via online registration or by filling in the Skim PZB form manually at PPZ-MAIWP counters in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. For more information, visit www.zakat.com.my or follow Pusat Pungutan Zakat on social media.
