KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent announcements of aid and incentives reflect the MADANI government's ongoing efforts to prioritise public welfare, said Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
He said the initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to returning national resources to the people fairly and responsibly.
“These policies reflect the administration’s broader approach to addressing post-pandemic challenges and global economic pressures with transparency and balanced governance,” he said in a statement today.
Among the measures unveiled by the Prime Minister are a one-off RM100 cash assistance for Malaysians aged 18 and above via MyKad under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, as well as the continued subsidisation of RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre.
Other announcements include a deferment of toll rate increases for 10 major highways and the declaration of Sept 15 as an additional public holiday in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations.
Ramanan, who is also the Member of Parliament for Sungai Buloh, said the RM100 assistance, amounting to a RM2 billion allocation, will be delivered digitally without complex eligibility requirements.
He added that the additional public holiday is expected to stimulate domestic tourism, particularly in rural areas that depend on visitor spending as a key economic driver.
The Rahmah Sales Programme under the MADANI framework has also been expanded, with RM600 million allocated to cover 600 state constituencies, aimed at improving access to affordable essential goods.
Commenting on the toll deferment, Ramanan noted that it was implemented despite existing concession agreements, highlighting what he described as the government’s willingness to manage rising living costs.
“As a member of the administration, I’ve seen that policy decisions shaped by data and transparent discussions, all focused on meeting the needs of the public,” he said.
He urged continued public support for the MADANI government’s initiatives, which he said promote unity and inclusivity.
