KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) – Less than 24 hours before the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) kicks off under the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC), Malaysia is already making waves in the global MLBB community.

The spotlight is not only on local favourites Selangor Red Giants (SRG.OG) – the defending champions – but also on Malaysia’s top-tier esports infrastructure, which has drawn elite teams to the country for their pre-tournament bootcamps.

Teams such as Gaimin Gladiators (USA), Aurora Esports (Türkiye), DianFengYaoGuai (China), and Team Spirit (EECA) have all chosen Malaysia as their final training ground before the MSC, citing the country’s conducive environment and world-class facilities.

Ashley Ann, roamer for Gaimin Gladiators, said their choice was based on infrastructure quality and stability.

“Malaysia has been outstanding in terms of consistency and professionalism. From accommodations to practice spaces, everything supports a focused, distraction-free routine,” she told Bernama.

She added that Malaysia’s location in Southeast Asia also made it a strategic choice.

“The balance of comfort, accessibility, and esports infrastructure here is ideal. Reliable internet and a strong ecosystem made it an obvious choice for our EWC bootcamp,” she said.

Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF) president Muhammad Naim Al-Amin said the influx of top-tier teams reinforces Malaysia’s status as a regional esports hub.

“It’s a milestone not just in terms of prestige, but in growing Malaysia’s esports ecosystem. It shows we’re capable of hosting and supporting world-class esports operations,” he said.

He added that this global recognition also boosts local confidence and affirms Malaysia’s readiness to meet high-performance demands.

Siew Hao Zhen, Head of Esports Malaysia & Emerging Markets at MOONTON Games, said the presence of international teams offers valuable exposure to the local MLBB community.

“Our long-term goal is to position Malaysia as a key partner in developing the regional MLBB ecosystem – from talent development and pro leagues to operational infrastructure,” he said.

He noted that with franchising in the pipeline for MPL Malaysia, the country is well on its way to becoming a regional esports powerhouse.
