KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) – Malaysian students continue to make their mark globally, with three learners from Nexus International School Malaysia ranking among the top scorers in the 2025 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
Lim Jac Huey from Kajang, Ng Yong Je from Cheras and Nicole Ooi Zi Yi from Petaling Jaya each scored an outstanding 43 out of 45 points, placing them among the world’s top achievers.
Jac Huey plans to pursue Marine Biology, Ng is set to study Dentistry, while Nicole is taking a gap year before beginning her university journey.
In total, seven Nexus students scored 40 points or above, an internationally recognised benchmark of academic excellence. The group of top scorers included two students from Korea and two from Japan.
Nexus International School achieved an average IBDP score of 33 points in the May 2025 session, outperforming the global average of 30.58, according to the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).
“Sixty per cent of our top scorers have been with us for an average of six years. This is proof that our long-term academic approach and boarding programme are delivering results,” said Nexus International School in a statement today.
The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous, two-year pre-university qualification recognised by universities worldwide.
It empowers students aged 16 to 19 to develop strong academic foundations, personal growth, and global citizenship through six subject groups and a core component consisting of the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity, Service.
The 2025 session saw more than 202,000 students worldwide receive their Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme results, which is a 4.8 percent increase from the previous year.
IBO director-general Olli-Pekka Heinonen congratulated all candidates, noting that IB graduates leave not only with academic knowledge but also with the values and mindset needed to lead and serve in an ever-evolving world.
