KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) -- The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) convened its sixth meeting for 2025 here Sunday to deliberate ongoing discussions with partner countries, focusing on formulating a new Plan of Action that will shape future collaboration.

Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN in Jakarta Datin Sarah Nava Rani Al Bakri Devadason said the meeting was part of the region’s broader effort to implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

“This meeting is basically to discuss the way forward in terms of cooperation with our partners,” she told Bernama after chairing the meeting ahead of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) here.

At the same time, she said the committee also reviewed efforts to strengthen the ASEAN Secretariat, preparations for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship throughout this year, as well as the CPR’s work plan.

The meeting was attended by permanent representatives of all ten ASEAN member states. Timor-Leste, which is attending as an observer, was also present.

The CPR, based in Jakarta, is the key coordinating body for ASEAN’s daily operations, supporting the work of the ASEAN Coordinating Council and ensuring effective implementation of regional initiatives.
