KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 (Bernama) -- Three Super League clubs are slated to play friendly matches against the National Under-23 (U-23) football squad in preparation for the 2025 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-23 Championship in Jakarta from July 15 to 29.
National Under-23 squad head coach Mohd Nafuzi Zain said the matches were part of his plan after tomorrow’s announcement of 30 players selected for centralised training camp.
"The centralised training will only be held here (in the country) from July 1 to 12. We will have three matches against the Super League clubs but it is still in the process (of evaluation).
"The three clubs (against the U-23 squad) were also chosen by me," he said after the 'Elite Games' match - an initiative to discover new footballing talent - here tonight
Malaysia have been drawn in Group A of the AFF U-23 Championship, together with hosts Indonesia, the Philippines and Brunei, and will play against the Philippines on July 15, followed by Brunei (July 18), before wrapping up the group stage against Indonesia (July 21).
The top two teams of each group will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for July 25, while the third-place match and final will take place on July 29.
