KUSKOP Focused On Strategic Approach To Strengthen Franchise Sector

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) --The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) reiterated its commitment to play a strategic role in driving the franchise sector through close cooperation with all stakeholders.

Its deputy minister, Datuk Seri R Ramanan said that the government would also focus on expanding the involvement of cooperatives as an active player in the franchise sector and support empowering the people’s economy through competitive business models with high potential of generating income.

“This approach is in line with the MADANI Government’s aspiration emphasising on complete economic development and the welfare of every layer of society,” he posted on Facebook today, adding that the matter was discussed at the Franchise Advisors’ Board meeting 1/2025 that he chaired today.

The meeting included various parties, including the Finance Ministry, the Economic Affairs Ministry, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry and related agencies, as well as franchise sector major stakeholders such as the Malaysian Franchise Association, legal experts and academicians.

“Various important matters were discussed, specifically related to the implementation of the National Franchise Policy 2030, which is the roadmap of developing a sustainable, inclusive and progressive franchise sector,” he said.

Continued support from government agencies, the industry and the public was vital to ensure that the franchise sector developed as a major national economic driver, he added.
