IPOH, June 8 (Bernama) -- Two cows of the Brahman breed were slaughtered during the sacrificial ritual of the Malaysia MADANI Sekampung programme organised by the Perak Department of Veterinary Services (JPV) at Masjid Rahmaniah, Kampung Padang Changkat in Bota Kanan today.

JPV director-general Dr Akma Ngah Hamid said the programme’s main objective was to engage with and fete villagers in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.

She said the programme was simultaneously conducted in Kampung Selat and Kampung Baru in the Bota Kanan area.

“It (the programme) is an ideal platform for the local community to uphold harmony and unity…in line with the Malaysia MADANI concept,” she said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Dr Akma stated that this year’s sacrificial ritual involved a nationwide supply of 34,451 cattle and buffaloes, along with 22,453 goats and sheep.
