KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA) has officially launched its 10th annual 520 Graduation Exhibition Carnival, under the theme “Embracing AI, Digital Intelligence Empowers”, on May 20.
Running through late June, the event features over 90 art exhibitions and performances, showcasing the university’s decade-long journey of innovation in art education amid the rise of digital intelligence.
"Over the past decade, NUA has pursued the vision of 'a campus-wide showcase, a city-wide celebration', turning it into a vivid reality of 'a city and a university thriving together in symbiosis'.
“By embedding the DNA of art into the fabric of the city, we have created a cultural emblem that shines in Nanjing and radiates across Jiangsu," said NUA Party Secretary, Yu Feng in a statement.
In a standout moment during the opening ceremony, Cai Yuanpei and Liu Haisu—pioneers of modern education and art in China—were brought to life through high-precision digital human technology, symbolically returning to pass the torch of aesthetic and artistic spirit to a new generation. Both were key figures in the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, the precursor to NUA.
The month-long celebration blends tradition and technology, with highlights including the “Digital Intelligence · Chinese Attire” fashion showcase, the Bubble Music Festival Jazz Season, and an opera performance of Thunderstorm by Chinese and Canadian students.
The festival reflects NUA’s evolving approach to art education in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), bridging disciplines, generations, and cultures.
This year’s carnival has attracted international collaboration, with participation from art institutions across the United States, Australia, Italy, Singapore, and Thailand, turning the event into a global cultural convergence hosted in the heart of Nanjing.
The 520 Graduation Exhibition Carnival continues to position NUA as a leader in integrating art, technology, and global dialogue, shaping the future of digital-era art education.
