KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- Koperasi Bernama Berhad has strengthened its strategic partnership with MK Textiles Holdings Sdn Bhd (MK Curtain) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding business activities and offering home furnishing products to the cooperative members via instalment plans and exclusive discounts.
Its chairman, Datuk Zakaria Abdul Wahab, said that the collaboration is part of the cooperative's broader initiative to expand its business while providing its members with access to affordable, high-quality household goods.
“This effort not only opens the door to more accessible and high-quality home necessities but also enhances the value of being a cooperative member,” he said during the MoU signing ceremony held at Wisma Bernama today.
Zakaria also encouraged more Bernama staff to join the cooperative, noting that membership is still not 100 per cent among employees.
“A programme like this is one of our ways to encourage voluntary participation,” he said.
Also present were the founder and chairman of MK Curtain Group Datuk (Dr) Calvin Khiu and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) deputy editor-in-chief (Economic News Service) Azlina Aziz.
Meanwhile, Khiu expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, describing it as a mutually beneficial initiative.
“This is a win-win strategy. Cooperative members gain access to exclusive prices on curtains and home decor, while we get to introduce our brand to the Bernama community,” he said.
The MoU also outlines plans for exhibitions, custom orders, and exclusive promotions for Bernama employees, particularly during the cooperative’s monthly bazaars.
Established on March 29, 2014, Koperasi Bernama is also open to collaborations with external companies or cooperatives across Malaysia, and is actively exploring new business opportunities in retail, media and digital training, lifestyle products, and other service sectors.
