RAMALLAH, July 24 (Bernama-WAFA) – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly denounced the recent vote by the Israeli Knesset in favour of imposing so-called Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, calling it a dangerous escalation aimed at entrenching illegal colonial occupation and undermining the two-state solution.
According to Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA), OIC in an official statement released on Thursday, reaffirmed that Israel, as the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
It further stressed that Israel’s occupation and colonial outposts are illegal under international law, relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The OIC reiterated its call on the international community to fulfil its responsibilities and take the necessary political and legal measures to support the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including recognition of the State of Palestine, full UN membership, and efforts to end the illegal colonial occupation.
